Safety Monday!

Sometimes there is more concern for completing a job quickly rather than safely. Take time to do a quality job, safely. All injuries can be avoided. One of the best ways to learn how to work safely is to learn from risks others have taken that lead to injuries. By avoiding unsafe acts and practicing common sense, safe job practices will become routine, with less chance for accidents. To learn more about safety visit our website.

They require workers to complete safety compliance training focused on eliminating or diminishing occupational injury, illness, and death. At Power Services Group, we prioritize safety for all employees to ensure safe jobsite practices.

Winter is arriving across the U.S. Here is a tip on surviving the cold that you can tailor to the circumstances of your workplace. Adapt safety meetings to the fall hazards that are common to your work crew. Do they have to get in and out of vehicles in icy weather? Must they walk on any ramps or sloped areas as  part of their jobs? Steps, stairs, ramps, and ladders are all more dangerous in wet or icy weather, especially during night shift. Remember that moist skin can stick to freezing surfaces. Check your worksite for areas that could be a particular hazard in the cold weather and discuss them in your morning meetings. We have a responsibility to use what we’ve learned in our safety training and apply it to every day tasks. A large part of safety training is the creation of a safe attitude – to encourage an individual to want to be safe, and to always think safety first. It is important not just to your employer, but to you and your family as well.  Checkout our website for more safety tips!

It’s no surprise to Florida residents that they are the top-ranked state for direct hurricane hits.  Planning can help individuals and families better prepare for the next time a hurricane approaches their area. You may have some ideas on what to do before, during, and after a hurricane – it is best to write everything down.  Put your plan on paper and share it with your family. Your family may also offer improvements and bring in other factors that should be considered. Ready.gov has a superb family emergency plan as a starting point. At PSG We wish you a safe week.

Accidents during turbine field service projects can cause injuries and claim lives.  Our primary objective when we discuss factors and causes of accidents is to find a way to prevent them before they occur.  Employers and Employees can control a primary driver of accidents – Unsafe Acts.  For example: a person may use equipment that is knowingly defective or damaged, or they may use good equipment in a careless or unsafe manner.  The second primary driver of accidents is Unsafe Conditions, which needs to be addressed through strong communication between the Employer, Employees, and any other parties involved in the project.   Unsafe conditions should be mitigated prior to attempting to perform work. Accident prevention is paramount, and by addressing unsafe acts and unsafe conditions you will vastly decrease the chances of an accident occurring in the first place.

Accidents have the potential to cause serious injuries. At PSG, our primary objective when we discuss causes of an accident is to find a way to prevent reoccurrence. The cause of an accident can be classified in two categories: unsafe acts and unsafe conditions. If everyone on the job is mindful of the proper safety procedures injury and death occurrences can be reduced, and it will be a much safer environment for all employees.

Accidents – Learn the cause – Find the solution.  Ultimately the jobsite, and your job will be safer.

Workplace safety procedures exist to keep people safe. It’s essential that machinery and tools are used in the correct way, and according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Shortcuts can lead to injury and are not worth the time that might be saved. Take the time to identify and correct any bad habits that may have crept into your work practices. At PSG we have employees trained and certified to handle all tooling and equipment, and focus on executing tasks the safest way, not the quickest way.
