Power Services Group Inc. Signs Agreement to Fund Precision Machining Program Expansion at Lanier Tech

Gainesville, Ga— Lanier Technical College has received a gracious donation from Power Services Group, Inc. (PSG) to fund an additional Instructor for Lanier Tech’s Precision Machining & Manufacturing program. The intended purpose of this donation is to give back to and grow the Precision Machining profession while expanding the number of students that Lanier Tech’s Machining program can facilitate each academic year.
Per PSG’s website,

Per the signed agreement between Lanier Tech and PSG,
“PSG will make a donation to the Lanier Technical College Foundation, specifically intended to support the salary and benefits of an additional full-time Precision Machining Instructor for a period of one fiscal year. PSG intends for the funding from this grant to be utilized in the 2027 Fiscal Year. This funding will be graciously used by the College to expand Precision Machining instructional times in the afternoon and evening hours in order to support the work schedules of potential new students.
The additional full-time Instructor position will allow students to complete the following pathways in a timelier manner: Basic Machinist Certificate, Lathe Operator Certificate, Mill Operator Certificate, Precision Machining & Manufacturing Diploma, CNC and Machine Tool Technology, CNC Technology Diploma and the Precision Machining and Manufacturing Degree.”

This academic program expansion will also foster new apprenticeship opportunities for the industries and students within our service delivery area. Vice President of Repair Services for PSG, Jeff Miller offered his sentiments to Lanier Tech Faculty and Staff regarding this grant agreement, “Power Services Group is determined to meet the growing demand for skilled machinists in the power generation industry, and we recognize that this requires proactive investment in workforce development. As we proudly launch the first class of our Field Machining Apprenticeship program, partnering with Lanier Technical College to offer flexible afternoon and evening classes ensures that our apprentices – and others in the community – can advance their skills while actively participating in the workforce.”
